Our Story
ORAT COMFORT HOME CARE LLC (OCHC) was founded in March 2023 in response to the growing national need for compassionate, a nonmedical inhome care for individuals who are sick, injured, frail, or unable to manage daily tasks on their own. From the beginning, our purpose has been clear: to ensure that every person regardless of age, ability, or circumstance can receive dignified, culturally responsive care in the comfort of their home.
Based in easily accessible locations in Portland and South Portland, OCHC provides dependable support to individuals with one or more disabilities, those recovering from illness or injury, and older adults who need assistance with daily or weekly household tasks. We help seniors stay active, engaged, and connected to the activities that bring them pleasure, peace, and a sense of independence.
At OCHC, we understand that personal hygiene, mobility, and daily physical activity become increasingly challenging as people age. These challenges can affect confidence, safety, and overall, wellbeing. That is why we provide personal care with dignity, respect, and patience always at the client’s pace, always in the comfort of their home, and always without frustration or pressure.

Dr. John Valent Abore is the Founder and Director of Operations of Orat Comfort Home Care LLC, a communityrooted home care agency inspired by the legacy of his grandfather, known affectionately as Orat. A respected historian and community leader, Orat taught the values of service, compassion, and giving back principles that shaped Dr. Abore’s life and ultimately the creation of OCHC.
With advanced training in public health, traumainformed care, and communitycentered service delivery, Dr. Abore has dedicated his career to improving the lives of vulnerable populations. I founded Orat Comfort Home Care LLC in honor of my grandfather, Orat a man whose wisdom shaped my life and whose compassion shaped this agency. He believed that true success comes from lifting others, especially our elders who have carried the weight of community for generations.

Florence Achiro John brings strong leadership, organizational insight, and a deep commitment to community-centered care. As Management Supervisor, she oversees day-to-day operations, caregiver coordination, and quality assurance to ensure that every client receives consistent, reliable, and culturally responsive support.
Her background in community engagement and client services allows her to build strong relationships with families, caregivers, and partners. Florence is known for her professionalism, compassion, and ability to create a supportive environment where both clients and staff feel valued.
She plays a vital role in maintaining OCHC’s high standards of excellence and ensuring that care is delivered with dignity and respect.
Office Manager & Office Coordinator
Beatriz Tati serves as the backbone of OCHC’s administrative operations. As Office Manager and Office Coordinator, she ensures smooth communication, efficient scheduling, and responsive support for clients and caregivers.
Her attention to detail, organizational strength, and warm communication style help create a welcoming and dependable experience for every family. Beatriz manages client intake, documentation, caregiver support, and daily office functions with professionalism and care.
She is dedicated to ensuring that every client interaction reflects OCHC’s values of compassion, respect, and cultural understanding.
